Upcoming Events:
  • November 30 and December 1- Math Benchmark Testing
  • December 1- Flag Dance Camp Forms are Due
  • December 2-3 ELA Benchmark Testing
  • December 2-9 3rd grade Service Learning Project Please bring in mittens and place them on the Christmas tree in your hallway.  Third grade will collect them daily.  Bring in mittens to keep somebody warm!
Attention Parents:
*We go out for recess if the wind chill is above 20 and if it is not raining. Please encourage your student to dress appropriately. We will not keep students inside.

Mrs. Shultz’s classroom is available from 7:20 am to 7:50 am Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Students who need extra reading time or help with homework are welcome.

Science
We will begin our unit over Landforms & Bodies of Water.  This unit also talks about water conservation, pollution, and erosion.

Math
Monday and Tuesday we will be doing our Math benchmark assessment.  This is setup very similar to our end of the year assessment.  The test will show us (and the kids) how well they are doing on the topics taught so far, as well as what areas each student needs to be working on. (This test is not for a grade).
Wednesday we will be taking our Star Math Test.

Science

Due to the testing schedule this week, students will not have math homework again until next week. .

We will be Benchmark testing Monday and Tuesday and STAR testing on Friday.
We will also begin rounding decimal numbers.


Please be looking for rocket facts to come home with your student to study. Any student who has completed all facts by Dec. 10 will get pizza or ice cream :)

We will NOT have homework this week due to testing.
ELA INFO ON BACK

ELA:
Engelbrecht: This week we will be wrapping up Unit 2 and beginning Unit 3
  • We will be Benchmark testing Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Language: Reference Sources
  • Reading: This week we will be reading about the settlers perspective during Westward Expansion. BOOK LOGS DUE MONDAY!!! WORTH 5 POINTS!
  • AR: Student should be around 80% of their goal depending on what they are currently reading by Friday.
Sandusky:
  • Reading Logs due Friday, with parent signature. Students who turn in reading logs will be getting awarded with Dojo Points, if they do not they will owe the following Fun Friday.
  • We are moving right along with Unit 2, wrapping up a few of the ‘fun activities’ during our holding tanks this week. Ask your child about Michelangelo's difficulties painting the Sistine Chapel, or how they used prepositions in regards to the famous paintings ‘The Last Supper’ or ‘The School of Athens’. Later this week students will be listening to Renaissance Period music and comparing it to modern day music.
  • Students will have a post-test on Perfect Tense, Benchmark Testing on Wednesday and Thursday, and STAR testing on Friday. These help us determine the strengths and weaknesses of each child so we can further help them in their area of need.
Shultz:
  • No homework this week.
  • Reading:: We are benchmark testing.
  • Language and writing: BEnchmark testing.
  • AR: Students should be at 100% of their goals by December 17.
